BIOGRAPHY OF OMARI KISSI JNR

Omari Kissi Jnr (full name is Fred Omari Kissi Jnr) is a contemporary gospel artist and songwriter from Ghana.He was born on 3rd January 1991 in Alajo in Accra to Rev Fred Omari Kissi (a pastor at Favourhouse Christian Centre in Accra) and Blessed Omari (a school owner). He is the last of three children, the eldest being Abigail Omari Boamah and the second child being Rhoda Omari Obraw Amegashitsi.He had his primary education at DeYoungsters School in Kokomlemle in Accra and changed schools to Rapid Academy when the family moved from Alajo to South Ofankor. He did two terms at Rapid Academy and moved to African Child School where he eventually became the school prefect. He wrote the BECE in JHS two and passed. He gained admission to Pope John Senior High and Junior Seminary in Koforidua where he studied Business.


He gave his life to Christ on the first day in Pope John during a Scripture Union meeting. He later joined the school’s choral group and sang at Mass for some time. He also sang with a contemporary group in the school called ‘Mystical Vibes’ through which he met Brian Kuffour (a gospel singer).He attended the University of Ghana,Legon in 2009 where he was offered to study Economics, Political Science and Music. There he joined the Family Choir of Campus Christian Family as well as the University of Ghana Mass Choir. He met Rev Denzel, a former Mass Choir member at one choir rehearsal, who later invited him to be a part of his singing group, Denzel and Heartbeat Music.Serving for 6 year under Rev Denzel Agyemang- Prempeh as background singer with Heartbeat Music, Omari has been privileged to work with almost all the contemporary gospel greats in Ghana.
Following earlier collaborations with Rev Denzel, Pastor Emmit and Nyamekye Zionite, Omari stepped into his own and released his first single entitled ‘Give Thanks’ on the 26th of August 2016 under the VI Music (his record label at the time).
The song has received warm reception on national radio stations and has become a favorite among contemporary gospel lovers. His unique voice and impressive delivery in ‘Give Thanks’, has made the song a staple on college campuses and among youth in Ghana.
Omari also ministers across the country, singing his own music as well as leading many believers in worship, fulfilling his purpose of bringing Ghanaian youth closer to God.
His new single, MOGYA, a song celebrating the work of blood of Jesus has taken off a new favourite contemporary gospel music lovers.
Omari announced a release of a new single in August of 2020 entitled Mehyia Yesu which he recorded at Reverb studios.
